First Thursdays Rosebank

The popular concept, First Thursdays that first launched in Cape Town not so long ago, has slowly but surely moved its way to Joburg and we couldn’t be more thrilled! While the concept is already gaining attraction in Braamfontein and Maboneng, we can’t get enough of First Thursdays held in Rosebank on Keyes Avenue. The art galleries and showrooms found in the Trumpet Building, most recently known as the Keyes Art Mile are open to the public from 5pm to 9pm (and later) on the first Thursday of every month. Visitors can either explore these galleries on foot, indulge in an array of Jozi’s finest food trucks or hang out at the Union Pop-Up Bar. Introducing Spytail Black Ginger Rum

Cape Town based premium spirits company, Truman & Orange has announced an exciting new drink that’s just landed in SA called, Spytail Black Ginger Rum. Spytail Black Ginger Rum is a premium spiced rum that is distilled in the Caribbean and then aged, spiced and blended at a small family distillery in the Cognac region of France. This deep amber colour rum features a spicy ginger nose and is sweet and velvety on the palate with a deliciously long rich finish. The bottle’s round shape is inspired by a Bathysphere, an old spherical submarine. In fact, the distillery where Spytail is made, is located near the river Charente, Southwestern France, where some of the first submarines were built and tested. Here are 3 of our favourite cocktail recipes to get your weekend off to a good start: The Boulevardier Similar to a Negroni, the Boulevardier replaces the gin with whisky and also includes sweet vermouth and campari. Where the Negroni is crisp and lean, the Boulevardier is rich and tantalising. Ingredients: 30ml rye whisky or bourbon whisky 30ml sweet vermouth 30ml Campari Add ingredients to a mixing glass.
