Bontle Modiselle is certainly one of South Africa’s most multifaceted performers. Over a relatively short period of time, this Soweto-born beauty has gone from an unknown dancer with just a dream, to one of the country’s most sought after film-and TV personalities. Bontle stepped into the spotlight when she played the female lead in Africa’s first dance film, Hear Me Move (2015), for which she received an Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) nomination for Best Supporting Actress. We investigate the latest designs by some of the most luxurious brands in the world: The TAG Heuer Monaco 1969 Launched simultaneously in Geneva and New York on 3rd March 1969, the Heuer Monaco was the first square, water-resistant automatic chronograph watch in the history of Swiss watchmaking. Named by Jack Heuer following the Monaco Grand Prix, the watch represented a complete break from the aesthetic codes of traditional watchmaking, with its large square case, metallic blue dial, bright red minute hand, dome plastic crystal and, most notably, its crown positioned on the left which, at the time, meant the watch did not need winding. Ryan Keys, fashion designer for haute couture brand, Keys Fashion, has gone from strength to strength building his empire. He has launched a capsule collection with actress Enhle Mbali and has partnered with DOVE. Ryan Keys always knew he would be a designer from a young age. Growing up in Bryanston, Johannesburg, it was his love of photography that catapulted him into the fashion world, he even interned for a few fashion houses at the tender age of 14-years-old. Designed in 1978 by Henri d’Origny, Arceau diverts the design of a classic watch and signals its difference by its asymmetrical lugs. The 36 mm and 28 mm-diameter models feature an inner bezel ring adorned with an unusual light gem-setting, while 70 or 60 diamonds light up a mother-of-pearl marquetry dial, reproducing the famous “Cavales” equestrian motif.
