Everyone needs an excuse to celebrate, right – be it the fact that it’s the holidays. or even just a Tuesday – a bottle of bubbles never goes amiss – especially when the Sandton Magazine team are involved. We are loving Steenberg’s youthful and playful Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc which is not only great value for money but also looks super stylish on any table with it’s chic packaging and is the perfect accompaniment to a summer’s day. Fresh and fruity this fashion forward bubbly is made in the classic French style by creating the sparkle in the bottle. Steenberg Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is no ordinary bubbly. Your first sip will find you experiencing a burst of litchi, guava, pineapple, mango and green fig. Your second sip will find a pineapple and passion fruit combination refreshing your palate. The Steenberg Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is available at wine shops countrywide and sells…

Roald Dahl’s classic hit the stage last month at the Teatro theatre, Montecasino and we had the pleasure of experiencing the magic first hand and dining at one of Monte’s fabulous restaurants, Lima Tapas Bar. Our evening got off to a good start at Lima Tapas Bar. Lima is like no other restaurant in Joburg. Focusing their attention on Latin, American cuisine, their dishes are inspired by food served during the great Andean civilisations of South America. At Lima you can choose between a variety of different tapas and still leave feeling satisfied. Some of the dishes we ordered to share were the deliciously filled fig and cheese empanadas, the calamari tubes stuffed with chorizo and goat’s cheese and pork ribs that were covered in a sweet, tangy basting. While our main included the rump espetada. Our time at Lima was further enhanced by the excellent service the restaurant has…

Can we just have a moment right here to say that we are over the moon obsessed. One of our fave foods (peanut butter) combined with one of our fave nougat brands, Sally Williams makes for happy days indeed! The memory of taking a bite out of mom’s delicious peanut butter and jam sandwich or sneaking a teaspoon of peanut butter right out of the jar (we all do it, don’t we?) peanut butter is a taste that is so filled with childhood nostalgia and evokes the indulgent memories of delicious snack moments. It is this kind of reminiscing that inspired the Sally Williams team to their newest and most indulgent flavour yet; peanut butter. While making herself a piece of toast topped with peanut butter and syrup the Sally William’s concept chef, experienced this very sense of deja vu she bit into her lunchtime treat and was immediately transported…

Stellenbosch wine estate Tokara, has just released their very first 10-year old Potstill Brandy which honours the age-old Cognac tradition, and uses a Chenin blanc base wine, which is double distilled retaining only the heart fraction for ageing in Limousin oak barrels for a minimum of 10 years. Tokara are ranked among the World’s 50 Most Admired Wine Brands by UK-based Drinks International, and have previously released a much acclaimed 5-year old brandy in 2004 and have been working on their Director’s Reserve 10 Year Old Potstill Brandy since then. Epicure is the restaurant name that is on everyone’s lips, and it’s no secret as to why. The Belgian-Burundian Chef has made a name for himself in the restaurant industry, and we were excited to pay him a visit. Located in Central Square in Morningside, Épicure is a unique blend of Pan-African chic and the unique menu features some creatively named dishes such as Taste of Tangier, Perfect Pepe, Hunters Reward, and the Rolex (a tasty beef curry wrap with a Ugandan twist.) Épicure in itself is an adventure from a décor perspective. Beautifully appointed booth’s and tables with low hanging woven grass lamps, beautiful blue suede fabric, and dark wood with leather chairs – its an interesting mix, but together the entire collection works so well together that to remove anything would be a travesty to the look and feel. The Afri-tapas menu (or Share-Share as it is called)…

We love Mirari Gin and this artisanal distillery nestled in the heart of Johannesburg’s trendy Maboneng precinct, has been creating cool beverages since 2013 at their Time Anchor Distillery. The unique and fragrant Mirari Gin Range, created by Chief Distiller Shanna-Rae Wilby has three variants, each with their own unique signature taste. Shanna-Rae is one of the significant women who is changing the narrative that this is a man’s industry, and we love that about her. She heads up a distillery that has progressed from a 100-litre holding capacity to 100 000 litres since its founding – no mean feat at all. Their creative Amber African Botanical Gin bears the mark of 13 botanicals that includes multiple botanicals that are indigenous to South Africa, including, Honeybush, Rose Geranium, Sour Figs and Boekenhout Honey. Each 500l litre batch of their Pink Damask Rose Gin, on the other hand, is distilled with…

As our beautiful Miss South Africa, Tamaryn Green, prepares to compete internationally in the Miss Universe competition (and hopefully follow in Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters footsteps), she took some time out to collaborate with the designers at Soviet Denim and create her very own denim jeans, also incorporating the 60th Miss SA jubilee celebrations feel to the denims, as well. Since 2015, our Miss South Africa ladies have been partnering with Soviet Denim to create their very own denims – Liesl, Ntando, Demi-Leigh and now Tamaryn get to wear their very own jeans with pride, and Tamaryn has personalised her denims with a stunning diamond shaped pocket plate on the back pocket of the jeans as well as a few other key elements. Tamaryn has kept that in mind the 60th Diamond Jubilee celebrations and together with the denim designers has brought the diamond element as well as the Miss South Africa…
